Home Paternity Test

Times keep changing and life keeps getting easier as innovations keep happening. Home paternity test kits are good; in fact perfect examples of this changing world. You heard it, you can actually go to a store and purchase yourself a genetic test kit and determine the father of your child right under the roof of your house! According to the direction, all you got to do is to take the cotton swab (which is also included in the kit) and rub it inside the child’s mouth, this method captures enough DNA for the test and you got to do the same with the man who may or may not be the father of the child too. After the collection of the DNA samples of everybody, you got to send the samples to the respectable address as mentioned in the kit and the results come in within three to five days or if you do not want to waste much time then you can even go to a trusted confidential website and get the results! It is too bad for the medical laboratories as things like these, sure must have dampened the profits.

The big doubt here obviously is that how accurate can this home paternity test be? Because there is absolutely no room for mistakes in a DNA test, well these tests as explained by experts are based on fifteen markers that make the results satisfactorily efficient and thus without any flaws. The current estimation suggests that the tests are 9.9 per cent accurate. Now that’s pretty good enough, isn’t it?

But even though the manufacturers say that Home Paternity Test is the same thing that other forensic and legal agencies have been using for years, the bottom line is that they are still not regulated by the FDA. The tests may not be as cheap as they seem to be as they do contain hidden costs like lab processing fee and in case of multiple potential fathers, it boosts the expenses like NOS does to a car! Genetic tests these days even predict the possibilities of diseases in the child, and the Alzheimer’s being one of them and the accuracy might even vary from kit to kit. Some labs even promise of being able to give 100 per cent accurate results by simply telling the consumer that they run the test twice (cross checking in a way) which no other lab in the nation or world (differs in products) because unlike them other labs do not scan the tests twice or by taking two DNA samples per person for testing. Few may even twist the facts by saying “we even test the DNA samples of new born” whereas there is nothing special in it because your DNA remains the same irrespective of whatever your age may be! Just be careful while choosing your brand of kits and if all this sounds way too complicated and troublesome to you then in order to avoid all this just avoid having affairs on the whole.
